As part of the 420KNOWHOW in-depth series I’m bringing you the VIPARSPECTRA Reflector-Series 600W LED Grow Light Review. I’ve designed this review to be simple enough for beginners to understand with enough detail to help experienced growers make an informed choice.

Viparspectra is a new brand in the LED market place who’ve made a name for themselves off the back of the Reflector series. With Viparspectra I’ve come to expect excellent build quality, a cool unit and intelligent design. The Reflector Series 600W acts as a suitable replacement for a 600W HID, or HPS grow light.

Coverage

Coverage can sometimes be a tricky measurement in terms of visualising how many plants you can grow. The truth is, plant sizes vary depending on the strain, the stages of growth and the conditions that you provide. I believe that a single plant needs a minimum of one square foot to cover all the stages of its growth.

The 2-phase switcher gives you two different types of coverage. Engaging the veg switch will allow you to bathe a 4 by 4 area in purple light. When I push down the bloom switch I get a concentrated red light-band that covers 9 square foot.

I can easily fit in 9 blooming plants into a 3 by 3 grow-tent using the Viparspectra. As the canopies respond to the light source, the 90 degree LEDs help to direct light to the bottom of the tent, increasing yield.

Strength and Efficiency

For an inexpensive unit, the Viparspectra 600W gives off a healthy light. Strong enough to pierce through the upper layer and rich enough to give a good return on yield. These lights need to be hung at least 24 inches above your plants which shows just how powerful they are.

They don’t cost a lot to run either, consuming a minuscule 274W on full output. That’s 50% more efficient than an HID and also more efficient than the vast majority of LEDs I’ve tested.

Versatility

The Viparspectra Reflector 600W has a decent coverage which can be split out across three units, if you’d like to expand your project. One unit can nurture seedlings using two units for growing once the plants reach the bloom.

As a single unit you’ll find the Viparspectra 600W has a good enough spread for medium size grow projects. The two phase shifter adds a little extra versatility whilst the light spectrum helps your plants to flourish no matter the stage of growth. A nice unit for a variety of purposes.

Value

The panel is solid with a nice weight indicating a good build quality. There’s a nice variety in the light-spectrum and a powerful overall out-put. The Viparspectra has everything you need for a medium size grow project at a fraction of the cost. Superb value all round.

Additional Info

There’s not much to see here. A couple of hanging lights, and a power cord, plus a lifespan of 100,000 hours.

What I like

My favorite thing about the Viparspectra 600W is the ability to combine it with multiple units. It’s available at a reasonable price plus the color balance spectrum helps you gain a good yield.

What I don’t like

Hanging the light at 24 inches is a little high, especially given the light is designed for smaller projects. If you’ve got the head room, then choosing a Viparspectra is a solid decision.

Bottom line?

Here’s the Viparspectra Reflector 600W review’s bottom line. You won’t find a cheaper unit with these features anywhere on the market right now. It’s a sturdy unit that doesn’t look like breaking any time soon, with enough output to make some decent yields.
